> How do Notace size their shoes?

Notace size their shoes using US sizes, but provide a conversion chart for EU and UK sizes. A Mondopoint measurement also outlines the maximum foot length (back of heel to the tip of your big toe) in centimetres (cm) that's suitable for a specific size.

> What Notace size should I choose?

Notace are considered to run 'true to size' and recommend you select the size that matches your existing training shoes. We find those who are an e.g. Men's US 9 in Nike sneakers or Vivobarefoot, also fit a Notace Men's US 9. The same applies to other Nike or Vivobarefoot size match up's.

If using the Mondopoint approach, you want to aim to be approximately 3mm-4mm under the measurement, to allow space for your feet to expand. For example, if the back of your heel to the tip of your big toe measures 27cm, then a US Men's 9 would be suitable. If it measured 27.3cm, it would still fit but possibly become snug when your feet expand as a result of load bearing exercise. If your foot is greater than 27.3cm, you need to go up to the next size.

See the below men's and women's Notace size chart for all Mondopoint measurements.

> How should Notace fit?

The fit should be snug but never tight. There should be enough room to allow the foot to expand during and post exercise. The toe box should be spacious and natural, with the toes being able to move freely. Overall you should feel the freedom to move and flex like you're walking with no shoes on.

> Should I size up or down in Notace

If you're between sizes or the length of your foot is equal to the Mondopoint foot measurement in 'cm', then you should go up to the next size.

> What are the design principles of Notace?

Notace shoes' design principles embrace natural movement, blending performance and minimalist philosophy with an intentional, Japanese-inspired aesthetic. They strive to 'escape the noise' by focusing on essentials and removing unnecessary extra's.

  • Natural Movement & Biomechanics: Notace designs footwear that honors the way the body is meant to move, drawing on academic research in running gait and biomechanics.
  • Minimalism ("Less is More"): The brand avoids chasing trends or overbuilding shoes, focusing instead on simplicity and functionality. The goal is for the shoe to disappear on the foot, so you can focus on the activity.
  • Intentionality & Precision: Every design choice, material, and detail is carefully considered, tested, and refined with purpose.
  • Japanese Design Philosophy: The designs are inspired by the Japanese values of intentional craftsmanship, clean aesthetics, and thoughtful living.
  • Foot-Shaped Fit: Shoes feature a generous wide toe box to allow for natural toe splay, which improves stability and posture.
  • Zero-Drop Platform: A neutral heel-to-toe drop (0mm) supports natural gait mechanics and healthy posture.
  • Balanced Cushioning: Notace bridges the gap between ultra-minimalist and overly cushioned shoes by offering an ideal balance of flexibility, cushioning, and ground feel, allowing protection without sacrificing connection to the ground.
  • Versatility: The shoes are designed to be multipurpose, functioning well for their intended activity (e.g., trail running) while also being suitable for everyday wear.
