Birkenstock use European sizes to class their shoes. These can however be converted into U.S/Australian sizes using the below sizing chart. For example, and as a guide only, a Birkenstock European 39 would be a Women's 8-8 1-2 or Men's 6-6 1/2.
Please keep in mind that Birkenstocks tend to be larger than other brand shoes, so we suggest you always select the smaller size if you fit somewhere in the middle.

Birkenstock Handy Sizing Hints Determining Birkenstock size is part science and part art, but to assist you can also use the metric system. Using your largest foot measure the inner side from the tip of the toe to the end of the heal (as seen in the side graphic).
Be as exact as possible and match the result with the Birkenstock sizing chart. For example if your measurement equaled 24.5cm then we would recommend a Birkenstock European 38. This method has proven to be fairly accurate.
